Finally, luckily there have been completed some last minute arrangements
and now everything is sorted out and irrevocable.
The Stuttgart reception will be on Wednesday and the final will
take place at Wilhelmspalais as in past years. You all know why the
draw has been changed again, Slovakia dropped out and therefore we don't
have the mixed team , which is a pity, but this way it was the easiest,
nobody except for Hölderlin, had to change sides. And Hölderlin
will forgive me, it is in an impromptu in which they have to switch.
I am awfully sorry, but this are things we cannot be blamed for....I hope
you will enjoy it nevertheless....
See you all tomorrow!
Angelika

2006 - 10th European Open - Sunday 26th November to Saturday 2nd December 2006
This year it will be our
10th contest and therefore we hope to find an outstanding number of teams
from all over the world who want to join us. Most of all we are looking
forward to welcoming you back or for the first time to the English debating
community in Germany.
We are happy to organize workshops as well as debates combined with some
interesting sight seeing and activities.
Please. do not hesitate to contact us for further information or answers
to your specific questions and requirements. We are waiting for your registration!
In past years we have hosted teams variously from the Czech Republic, Estonia, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Slovenia, Spain, and the USA. In 2004 14 German and visiting teams competed, and this year, with even more countries involved, we hope to expand. We see the event as a renewal of the WSDC 2004 in Stuttgart and a chance to meet in the middle of Europe.

2005 - 9th European Schools Debating Championship - Saturday 25th November to Saturday 3rd December 2005
The whole week was full of sightseeing in the mornings and exciting debates
in the afternoons. It was fascinating to see how the debating standard
of all teams, especially the inexperienced new teams from South Eastern
Europe improved considerably throughout the competition. It was a pleasure
to watch debaters make friends and overcome all the borders from Canada
to Serbia, outgrow the prejudices against each other in Europe, mingle
and socialize.
The final at Wilhelmspalais saw an overwhelming audience of students,
teachers and parents who had come from as far as Villingen and Heidelberg
to see and enjoy the final between the USA and Canada. The American team
won and proudly received their prizes donated by Readers Digest. But after
such an incredible tournament it was hard to say good bye to each other
and there were many promises to come back for the European Championship
next year again.

Expected teams: Canada, Czech Republic, England, Israel, Netherlands, Serbia, Slovenia, USA.
Dear colleagues, dear friends,
as the Europeans are coming closer and we would like to throw ourselves
into organizing the event, I'd like to ask all the teams who will join
us on November 25th, to register and send the names of the team members
by November 12th so that we can arrange everything, esp. inform hosts
in time.
We are hoping for a considerable number of participants from all over
Europe including some very new countries such as Serbia, who we are particularly
glad to welcome at Stuttgart.
We are very much looking forward to seeing you soon here in Stuttgart!
Best wishes Angelika
