Hello all,
Well, there have been a flurry of registrations this year, meaning that
we have a massive 23 teams taking part! Thank you to all of you who have
registered especially to the newcomers Lise-Meitner-Gymnasium in Böblingen
and also to the Goethe-Gymnasium in Bensheim right up there in southern
Hessen! I originally had three large groups, but that would have meant
too many debates for each team (6-7 BEFORE the quarter finals), and so
I have now split you all up into four groups (on a loosely geographical
basis with Gmünd split in two and Stuttgart similarly) with roughly
equal numbers - 3 groups of 6 teams and one of 5.
A slight change to the groups for JL this year, as we are able to welcome
the Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium in Ludwigsburg to Junior League. This means that
the Gottlieb-Daimler-Gymnasium has been moved to the Stuttgart only group
(Group 4) and Otto-Hahn has joined Group 3 (North and East of Stuttgart).
As there has not been any draw made yet, this does not cause any problems
but means that we are a happy 24 schools in JL! You can find the
list below....
Group 1
Albert-Einstein (Böblingen)
Lise-Meitner (Böblingen)
F.-Abel (Vaihingen/Enz)
Goethe (Gaggenau)

The first debate will be in January of next year with the remainder
following in late February/early March and then April. The quarter finals
will be in mid-May with the finals on the 21st-24th June 2007. I have
not, as yet done the draw, nor can I give you exact dates and of course
no motions, but you should have these by the end of November at the latest.
The first thing for you to do is get in touch with the other teams in
your group and see if you can arrange friendly Junior debates, so that
the children get to know each other before the competition kicks off in
earnest. Most of the contacts should be known, but if you have any problems,
just let me know and I will be only too happy to help.
So, welcome to you all to Junior League 2006-2007 - the biggest so far!
Best wishes,
David

To everyone participating in the Junior Debating League:
It has been decided that, to cover the administrative costs of running
the league, it is necessary to levy a fee of 20 Euros per school for the
year. The accounts of Debating Society Germany to which you should pay
are LBBW (Sort Code 600 501 01), A/C no. 820 46 64 or Deutsche
Bank (Sort Code 600 700 24), A/C no. 132 02 90. Transfer reference: Please
say from which school the payment comes, as it is not always easily to
piece things together! If you should need a receipt for your school,
please tell our treasurer Tanja
Wolf.
