draw (Würzburg, rounds 5-8 - 12th-14th
March 2010)
Dear all
The draw for Würzburg is ready! Unfortunately, two teams had to drop
out, but the rest of you have signed up in time, so it made the release
of this draw possible before I leave the country for two weeks...in six
hours ;P. Thanks to all of you for keeping the deadline!!!
The motions for the prepared rounds 5 & 7 (yes, we'll begin with a
prepared round this time...) are:
- TH has no confidence in the German Federal Government
(rd 5)
- TH would negotiate with the Taliban (rd 7)
Interesting material developed by our motions committee Christopher
Sloan, Klaus-Peter Heil and Helene Rädler. Thanks to the three of
you
for your work!
The draw has been done using IDEA Easy Tournament. The sides were picked
randomly in rounds 5 and 7 (prepared) and then swapped for the following
impromptu rounds.
However, the software isn't as "easy" as the title may indicate,
the
main problem being that it does NOT inform me when priorities can't be
kept during a shuffle, i.e. a team not switching sides when it should
because it had already debated the only team left.
I've checked and double-checked the whole thing over and over again and
I'm confident that I found everything but still may not have. Please
check if your teams end up in fishy positions (not having changed sides
when they should have or have debated a team already). This can be
amended as soon as you let me know. Changes should be minor.
Please check mails regularly for changes!
The schedule will be ready in the upcoming days, but please plan to
arrive at the Würzburg hostel by 4.30 PM on 12th MAR.
Best regards,
Chris Sanchez
