Dear colleagues, participants in this year's Senior League, finally all
the teams have registered and we are proud to announce that we have the
record number of 26 schools participating this year!
We have worked out most things and here are the results of our efforts:
- we tried hard to match the most suitable partners in the first round
and find venues which are not too far away or easy for the teams to reach.
- we are very glad that we have found enough schools who are willing to
host the debates on November, 19th: thanks to Susanne Pongratz from Albert-Einstein,
Gunther Volk from Hoptbühl, Klaus-Peter Heil and Christopher Sloan
from Parler and Isabel Schmiga from Georg-Büchner who will help me
at Lessing.
- the prepared motion can be found in the draw, the impromptu motion will
be sent to the hosts immediately before the day of the debates.
- hosts are required to make sure that the briefing will be attended by
all judges and given by one of the most experienced judges.
- don't forget that the next rounds will take place over the weekend,
10th to 12th February at youth hostel Lindau (costs will be about 60€
plus your train tickets or bus fare).
- the last rounds have been scheduled for March, 25th, which some people
don't think is a good choice(cf. Abitur). I think we should talk about
postponing the rounds until after the exams, f.ex. 29th April. What do
you think?
If there are any further question feel free to approach Birgit Trefz or
myself.
And now let's go into preparation and look forward to meeting each other
so soon, Yours Angelika

To everyone participating in the Senior Debating League:
It has been decided that, to cover the administrative costs of running
the league, it is necessary to levy a fee of 20 Euros per school for the
year. The accounts of Debating Society Germany to which you should pay
are LBBW (Sort Code 600 501 01), A/C no. 820 46 64 or Deutsche
Bank (Sort Code 600 700 24), A/C no. 132 02 90. Transfer reference: Please
say from which school the payment comes, as it is not always easily to
piece things together! If you should need a receipt for your school, please
tell our treasurer Tanja
Wolf.
