World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championships 2008

The World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championships will be taking place in Winnenden and Backnang between 15th and 20th March 2008 at the Lessing-Gymnasium and Max-Born-Gymnasium. These championships, which are very different to the usual style of English debating in Germany, have four disciplines: Debating, Interpretive Reading, Persuasive/After-Dinner Speaking, Impromptu Speaking. There will be 110 speakers from 14 countries: Botswana, Canada, Cyprus, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Lithuania, Pakistan, Romania, South Africa, South Korea, United Kingdom, United States and Zimbabwe. Observers are welcome to watch the events and find out about this "parallel" system of debating!
