Dear all,

we have recently been informed by the youth hostel that the city of Heidelberg introduced an overnight city tax on October 1, 2025. Unfortunately, this information was not communicated to us beforehand, which is why the tax was not included in our original billing.

As a result, the youth hostel is now required to charge this tax retroactively, and we therefore unfortunately have to request the corresponding amount from teams after the event. This means we will need to issue a second invoice for the city tax.

The tax only applies to guests aged 16 and older and amounts to €3.50 per person per night.
To calculate the correct amount for each team, we kindly ask team coaches to fill out the form (https://forms.gle/nzcZEYfKrNXHK5jU7) and indicate how many members of their team will be 16 years old by March 22, 2026.

Please include all members of your delegation, regardless of their role:
Debaters
Coaches
Judges
Kindly make sure that every person affiliated with your team who meets the age requirement is included in the total.

Thank you for providing accurate information by MONDAY, 16th MAR 2026.

Best regards
Sunny, Alex, Leander, Atharv, Kavin and Caro

Dear one and all,

We hope this finds you well.

As we are currently experiencing a high volume of emails, and we are doing our best to get back to everyone as soon as possible.
In the meantime, we would like to provide answers to the most frequently asked questions via this message to all participants.

1.) Rounds 5 & 8 Sides
Please find the SIDES (not pairings!) for Rounds 5 and 8 here.

2.) Judge Survey
Furthermore, we'd like to ask you to participate in a survey regarding the division you want to judge:
https://forms.gle/XDcudfwPq9ipdGPJ6

3.) Motion Clarification
We received a request to clarify the terms "fully developed" and "widely available."
We hereby confirm that it is up to the teams to define and clarify these terms.

4.) Invoices & Payment
Lastly, we would like to confirm that no invoices have been sent yet, as the allocation process took a little longer than expected.
Recognizing that many schools are currently (or will be) on break, we will send these out as soon as possible and set a reasonable deadline for payment.

Please feel free to reach out to us if any further questions arise.

We look forward to seeing you in Heidelberg!

Best regards,
Alex, Caro, Leander, Atharv, Kavin and Sunny

Dear Coaches,

We hope this finds you well.

The draws sent out yesterday contained incorrect dates and the wrong league year. We have corrected these issues.
Please find the updated version in your inbox, which contains the correct dates and rounds.
Please note that no venues or pairings were affected. Only the first two headlines in the document were incorrect.

Secondly, we received a motion clarification request regarding the Round 8 motion.
We were asked to confirm if the abbreviation THO stands for "This House opposes...".
We can confirm that this is correct. The full motion for Round 8 is: This House opposes the decline of religiosity in the west.

Kind regards,
Alex Seitz, Atharv Mahendrakar, Caroline Pottgiesser, Kavin Raj Kumar, Leander Mathissen, Sunny Lorenz

Dear coaches,

Please find attached the draws for rounds 1-4 of Senior League 2025/26. Should you need to drop out of any round, please let us know as soon as possible, as this ensures that we can fix allocations. This season we have no school that offered to host in Frankfurt, therefore some schools may face longer travel times.

The prepared motions for this season are:
Round 2: THBT the winners of the most prestigious arts awards (e.g. the Oscars) should always be decided by a public vote.
Round 4: THR the rise of rainbow capitalism.
Round 5: Once self-driving cars are fully developed and widely available, THW ban humans from driving.
Round 8: THO the decline of religiosity in the west.

All Emails will be published on our website through the following link: https://www.schoolsdebate.de/index.php/competitions/dsg-senior-league

We would also like to remind you of the online judges briefing that will take place on November 20th at 19:00 CEST.

Kind regards,
Alex Seitz, Atharv Mahendrakar, Caroline Pottgiesser, Kavin Raj Kumar, Leander Mathissen, Sunny Lorenz
