EurOpen 2025 was held from the 14th to the 17th November in Stuttgart.
It was an amazing event with many people from all over the world participating.

We hereby invite you to the official judges' briefing for the new season of Junior League and Senior League, which will take place online via Microsoft Teams on next Thursday, 20 November 2025, at 19:00 CET.
The link to the teams meeting room can be requested via email to slsouth(at)schoolsdebate.de or jlsouth(at)schoolsdebate.de.
The briefing will consist of a 60-minute presentation, followed by a 30-minute Q&A. We will record the presentation and make it available as a video afterwards. For data protection reasons, we will not record the Q&A, but instead provide an anonymised written summary.
Attendance of the judges' briefing is required for all persons who will be judging debates in JL and SL during this season. If you cannot attend live, please make sure to watch the video and read the summary of the Q&A later. Both will be available on the DSG website, and we will also circulate a link in a later email.
Junior League is open to teams of students in grades 9 and below, while Senior League is intended for students in grades 10 and above. You may find more information about the tournaments here.

A new version of the tournament rules has been released in accordance with the decisions made at the 2023/24 Senior League Annual Meeting.
Changes include the adoption of conferral judging in Senior League, provisions for the power pairing algorithm, and various clarifications regarding participation fees, eligibility for the break, and other matters.

Workshops für Lehrer*innen und Schüler*innen: Debating
Die in Stuttgart ansässigen Vereine Global Shapers e.V. und Debating Society Germany e.V. veranstalten im Schuljahr 2021/22 verschiedene Online-Workshops zum Erlernen des englischsprachigen Debattierens für Anfänger aller Schularten.
Debating liefert neben dem eigentlichen Fremdsprachenerwerb eine Vielfalt an Kompetenzen v.a. im Hinblick auf das freie Sprechen, der Argumentation, Gliederung, Strategie, Vermittlung und Verteidigung recherchierter Inhalte. Schüler*innen erlernen somit früh, Standpunkte zu vertreten und im Rahmen eines Wettbewerbs spielerisch unter den Aspekten der Toleranz und des freien Meinungsaustauschs unter Beweis zu stellen.
Nach einer Einführungsveranstaltung für Lehrer*innen und Schüler*innen sind zwei Treffen für alle Beteiligten sowie ein weiteres zusätzliches Treffen für Lehrer*innen angesetzt bevor sich alle (aktuell online) zu Probedebatten einfinden. Darüber hinaus sind weitere Übungsdebatten bzw. inhaltlich wählbare Module möglich. Im Juli 2022 sollen die neu erlernten Kompetenzen im Bereich Debating in einem kleinen Turnier praktisch angewandt werden.
